Guitarist Lenny Kaye Would Like Another 60 Years to See How It All Turns Out

“You know, I don’t have a Facebook page,” guitarist Lenny Kaye told the crowd assembled at the launch party for FortnightJournal.com recently. A voice in the back responded, “Why?”

“Because I wasted so much time on MySpace. I’d get up in the morning and there would be like 25 friend requests from garage bands in Scandinavia,” Kaye responded. “Sometimes you don’t want to be found. Especially by that girl in high school, who now looks like my grandmother.  I don’t look like my grandfather, or do I?”

A second voice confirmed, “You look great!”

The successful launch for FortnightJournal.com at Robert Miller Gallery in Chelsea produced this amazing video, capturing the rocker’s extra special millennial-era rendition of Gloria – what Kaye referred to as “the National Anthem of Rock n’ Roll.”   See Kaye locally with Patti Smith this Thursday, November 11 at Southpaw when they share the stage with Shilpa Ray & Her Happy Hookers, Outernational, Tamar Korn and special guests to benefit the local new media project Fortnight Journal and hosted by us!

“The thing I find really the most interesting about the old internet,” Kaye concluded early on, “is that you can do it all – like if you do a book, you can press a little button and hear the song that the book mentions or see the pictures that the book talks about; I find it really exciting. I would like to have another 60 years to see how it all turns out in the 21st century.”

"Gloria" was always played at every social event I went to in my twenties/thirties/forties  etc    It's such a great song to dance to and get a party going   "Rock On"
